Position Overview
The Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive health, safety, and environmental program across our manufacturing operations. Overseeing multiple facilities, this role focuses on fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is a strategic yet hands-on leader passionate about promoting a safe and sustainable work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development
- Design and continuously improve the company’s EHS programs.
- Drive strategic initiatives aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all facilities meet local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and adapt company policies accordingly.
Safety Culture Leadership
- Lead efforts to embed a proactive safety culture at all levels.
- Drive employee engagement through training, communication, and recognition.
Risk Management
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Establish systems for tracking incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
Multi-Site Oversight
- Partner with site leaders to adapt EHS programs to individual facility needs.
- Conduct audits and provide guidance for improvements.
Training and Development
- Deliver training programs to educate employees and leaders on EHS practices.
- Develop site EHS coordinators to ensure ongoing program effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of EHS leadership in manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Success in building and scaling safety programs across multiple locations.
- Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related regulations.
- Proven ability to lead cultural change and enhance employee safety engagement.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
